LIFE AFTER STROKE

" We have been invited to this group, an invite only group and we may not have wanted to be invited, but we are here now, so we have to make the best of it."

"Once you are home from the hospital people think you are ok, so the visits stop, the check ins stop the meal delivery stops, and you are left to figure it out and people assume you are ok, cause you are home, but that’s when the hard part starts…home is where its hard and I don’t know if enough credit is given to that."

Life after stroke is a lifelong journey that extends beyond rehabilitation. These resources provide information and support to help individuals return to everyday activities, access supports and services, advocate for their needs, and enhance their well-being.

Relations, Sex & Intimacy

"I think the pressures of work are bigger, the pressures to return to “normal “are greater. I think when people have a stroke at older age, they are kind of in their older years, and we can accept if they need to take the weekend and have a nap and we can accept if they need to say no to a function if they are not feeling well, there is more space given to time and recovery and rest.
