June is Stroke Awareness Month – Access to Endovascular Therapy
The Central East Stroke Network (CESN) is working with non-tPA hospitals in the region to implement processes that support access to Endovascular Thrombectomy (EVT) consultation services for patients presenting within 4-24 hours of stroke symptom onset. A 4-24hr EVT Toolkit was created that includes resources & training materials to support the rollout of this initiative. Sites are now screening patients within the 4-24hr window using ACT-FAST. Emergency Department nursing staff are being trained to use ACT-FAST as a screening tool to help identify if the patient is eligible for EVT consultation.
