Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) is the District Stroke Centre and provides stroke services, supporting patients in Haliburton, the City of Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland, Peterborough, and Northern Hastings County.
PRHC is the thrombolytic delivery site and Endovascular Treatment (EVT) triage centre for the HKPR District and is supported 100% by Telestroke. PRHC has an integrated stroke unit and an Outpatient Stroke Rehabilitation Program. Some patients may also be suitable to attend a Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Program at various locations across our district.
Patients discharged from the HKPR District Stroke Centre (PRHC) with a suspected diagnosis of TIA are given a follow-up appointment at the TIA Stroke Prevention Clinic and potentially the Vascular Consult Clinic, if necessary within 48-72 hours of discharge. Patients admitted with a diagnosis of stroke or TIA to PRHC will have a Post Stroke Vascular appointment arranged at discharge through Kawartha Cardiology for further follow up.
