Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) is the Enhanced District Stroke Centre (EDSC) – Regional System for the Central East Stroke Network (CESN). With this designation, RVH is accountable for two roles:
Specialized Clinical Service Provision – RVH delivers specialized acute and inpatient stroke services, including thrombolysis assessment and delivery, Stroke Prevention Clinic, and Stroke Unit care. Additionally, RVH provides specialized inpatient stroke rehabilitation on the Integrated Stroke Unit, and Community Stroke Rehabilitation.
System Leadership, Implementation and Coordination – Through the CESN regional team, RVH provides leadership, strategic planning, implementation, and coordination of best‑practice stroke care across the full continuum for the entire CESN region.
Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) - Huntsville District Memorial Hospital
Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site is the designated District Stroke Centre serving a catchment area stretching from Gravenhurst to Sundridge/South River and from Parry Sound to Dorset/Dwight, as well as indigenous communities in Wahta Mohawk and Moose Deer Point First Nations.
Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) is the District Stroke Centre and provides stroke services, supporting patients in Haliburton, the City of Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland, Peterborough, and Northern Hastings County.
Lakeridge Health Oshawa (LHO) is the District Stroke Centre serving the Durham area, including Durham East and Durham West. Stroke patients that present to sites other than LHO will be transferred to LHO to access the appropriate specialized stroke services.
Mackenzie Health (MH) is the District Stroke Centre serving the District of York. The Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital site of Mackenzie Health is the thrombolytic delivery site and Endovascular Treatment (EVT) triage centre.
